Certificate Description

These exciting and demanding courses prepare students to respond to emergency calls and provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured including transport to a medical facility.

The courses provide both hands-on, practical application and lecture scenarios. Highly trained instructors provide real world components to give students the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to succeed in this rewarding field. Upon completion, successful students will be prepared for Utah State Certification.

Must have documentation of current TB test within the last 12 months. A non-refundable $25 background check fee is required for clinical clearance. Students who have lived outside of Utah within the last five years will be required to do a federal background check costing $50 (will be determined after class begins).

Employment Outlook

Volunteer status may be available in local areas for Emergency Medical Technician. Employment is often found through local, state, and out-of-state ambulance services, emergency departments, and private employers for advanced programs. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts full-time, paid EMTs will be needed to replace unpaid volunteers as it is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit and retain unpaid volunteers.
