As an architectural drafter, students may find employment in companies and firms of all sizes. Architects and structural engineers all require entry-level and advanced drafters to help produce their 3D models and drawings. Additionally, many companies hire drafters with an architectural background to do drawings of their facilities. Architectural drafters are also employed by many government agencies, which range from working in planning, utility, or building departments; survey crews; or other related municipal jobs. Ongoing housing demands create a continual need for architectural drafters to create house plans and architectural renderings working through large scale home builders, local contractors, or as independent designers in their own companies. The building market is expanding and this growth is expected to continue into the future, both for residential and commercial building.
