Certificate Description

Office professionals perform a variety of administrative duties necessary to run an organization efficiently, serving as information and communication managers for business.

Students will be prepared to perform duties related to advanced software applications, business writing, telecommunications, document production, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, search engine optimization, social media, information management (including Cloud), and project leadership. The Business Technology Program is designed with employment in mind. Whether a student plans to move directly into a business or accounting position or obtain additional education, this program will boost the potential for success.

Students receiving Pell Grant will need to attend face-to-face.

Assessment: basic reading (70%ile), whole numbers (85%), decimals (83%), fractions (83%), percents (82%), keyboarding (25 nwpm), and language mechanics (62%ile) language expression(66%ile). Please note: A composite ACT score of 17 or a composite SAT score of 1210 can waive assessment requirements (except keyboarding) if taken no more than four years prior to enrollment.

Employment Outlook

Employment projections by the Department of Workforce Services indicate business and office careers are among the top 50 career areas that will experience the largest growth in the next five years. Job opportunities are available in businesses of all sizes. Position titles could include administrative assistant, desktop publishing specialist, accounting clerk/technician, executive secretary, medical office specialist, office assistant, receptionist, accounts payable/receivable specialist, registrar, secretary, payroll coordinator, etc.

When Can I Start?

Bridgerland Technical College is open year round. Most programs are open-entry, which means you can start the program at the first of every month as long as there is space available in the program. Because of demand, some programs have waiting lists to get in to the program. Please contact Student Services for information on those programs with waiting lists and defined starting dates.

Is financial aid available?

Bridgerland Technical College participates in a variety of assistance programs that aid students in covering the costs associated with enrollment in full-time certificate programs. The Financial Aid Office provides information for grants, scholarships, and VA education benefits. Bridgerland Technical College does not participate in or endorse any loan program. How much does it cost? Can I make payments? Are all tuition and fees due up front?

Most certificates take about one year to complete. Each individual certificate page has tuition and fee amounts listed. Students can be setup on a payment plan and make payments each month (due on the 1st).
