Certificate Description

This certificate offers curriculum that will create a cabinet shop experience and allows the student to work as a team member in kitchen and other cabinet applications.

The student will be trained in shop safety, machine operation, planning, estimating and design, cabinetmaking, millwork, patternmaking, jigs and fixtures, finish application, and installation. Students will be instructed in the safe use of power machines and cabinet-related chemicals (i.e., stains and lacquers).

Gain hands-on experience while constructing a minimum of two complete residential kitchens!

This specialization is delivered face-to-face and may contain online components.

Please note: A composite ACT score of 17 or a composite SAT score of 1210 can waive assessment requirements if taken no more than four years prior to enrollment.

Employment Outlook

Students will be prepared to enter the job market as an entry-level cabinetmaker, cabinetmaker assistant, millworker, finisher, installer, and may include bidding, laying out, and billing of cabinet jobs. The modern wood industry is highly technical and employees must learn to set up, operate, and tend all types of power equipment and hand tools.

When Can I Start?

Bridgerland Technical College is open year round. Most programs are open-entry, which means you can start the program at the first of every month as long as there is space available in the program. Because of demand, some programs have waiting lists to get in to the program. Please contact Student Services for information on those programs with waiting lists and defined starting dates.

Is There Financial Aid?

Bridgerland Technical College participates in a variety of assistance programs that aid students in covering the costs associated with enrollment in full-time certificate programs. The Financial Aid Office provides information for grants, scholarships, and VA education benefits. Bridgerland Technical College does not participate in or endorse any loan program. How much does it cost? Can I make payments? Are all tuition and fees due up front?

Most certificates take about one year to complete. Each individual certificate page has tuition and fee amounts listed. Students can be setup on a payment plan and make payments each month (due on the 1st).
