Computer Graphics

Certificate Description

The Computer Graphics certificate is primarily for students who are looking to complete the Associates of Applied Technology degree with Utah State.  It does not provide the depth required for most Media Design jobs.

Enrolled in the Computer Graphics Certificate, students learn the basic skills of media design.  Introductory classes are taught in Computer Graphics, Digital Publishing, and 3D Modeling and Animation.  Students receive a foundation of knowledge to provide direction for further education. This certificate is for those who are intending to enter Utah State and complete the Associates of Applied Technology degree without entering the workforce as a graphic design. This certificate does not provide the depth required for most media design positions, but may be used as a step towards a career in the media design industry or a related field.

Students are expected to work, and excel in a self-paced learning environment; individualized help is given when needed.

Employment Outlook

With the computer graphics certificate, students have the minimum number of hours to qualify to enter the AAS degree program at Utah State University, and are granted credits towards its completion.

This certificate will give students a basic knowledge of the media design industry and serves as an exit point in the media design program for students who may not have sufficient time to complete the more time intensive certificates.

This certificate can be utilized as a jumping off point for those who are relocating to other areas to continue their media design education.

Occasionally companies with specific design needs are willing to further train designers with a Computer Graphics certificate to work in their specific field.
