Certificate Description

The Real Estate Pre-Licensing Broker training is state-approved curriculum designed to prepare you for the Utah Real Estate Broker exam.

This is an important first step to launch an independent career that will allow you the freedom of self-employment, with financial rewards geared to your personal goals, motivation, and determination.

Licensing
The following are requirements for obtaining a Real Estate Broker License:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Complete a 120-hour pre-licensing course and pass school exam.
  • Obtain the Utah State handbook stamped by Bridgerland Technical College signifying successful completion of course.
  • Have accumulated a minimum of 60 points in sales, which are required and stipulated by the Division of Real Estate.
  • Score 75 percent or higher on the State of Utah and National exams.

Continuing Education
Courses are published in the Business/Marketing section of the Short-Term Class Schedule.

The Bridgerland Technical  College Real Estate course and its instructors are licensed by the Utah Division of Real Estate.

This specialization is delivered face-to-face and may contain online components.

Certificate Requirements

The applicant for a broker license must be at least 18 years old. Students must purchase books.

All students applying for a broker license will be required to submit to the Division, with their applications, fingerprint cards that will be used in a criminal background check. Any student with a criminal history may: 1) not qualify for a broker license, or 2) may be required to appear at a hearing before the Utah Real Estate Commission and the Director of the Division of Real Estate to seek approval for a license. There is no guarantee that such an applicant will be approved for a sales agent license.

Employment Outlook

Real estate is a growing business and continues to define a huge segment of the American economy. Either stay with the existing brokerage or start an adventure as a new broker managing your own real estate business. Employment generally follows the overall health of the economy and the real estate market.
