Cybersecurity Fundamentals

Description
This course will provide insight into the importance of cybersecurity and the integral role of cybersecurity professionals. It will cover five key areas: 1) cybersecurity concepts, 2) security architecture principles, 3) security of networks, systems, applications and data, 4) incident response, and 5) the security implications of the adoption of emerging technologies.
Objectives:
- Understand basic cybersecurity concepts and definitions
- Identify components of security architecture
- Recognize the methodologies and techniques for detecting host- and network-based intrusions via intrusion detection technologies
- Understand incident response and handling methodologies
- Identify network traffic analysis methods.
Students must attend a course orientation 8 am on the first class.
Students must attend 15 hours.
Open Lab Availability:
Mon - Thurs, 8 am - 9 pm.
Friday, 8 am - 4 pm.
