Congratulations to Emily Hudson on her MBA!!!
A huge congratulations to Emily Hudson for completing her MBA!
Emily earned her Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Western Governors University specializing in business management, strategy, and leading teams. She made balancing graduate studies, family life, and full-time employment look easy. We are fortunate to have Emily on our team as an incredible instructor in the Business Technology program.
We asked Emily to share a little bit of her experience with us. She started her MBA at Western Governors University in February 2019 and finished in April 2020.
She says “It was an online program, so I did my course work mostly in the evenings after my boys were in bed and into the early morning hours on the weekends. I don’t think I’ve ever written so many papers in my entire life. It was a great learning experience! It was really fun to see how the courses I was taking were immediately applicable in enhancing the courses I have the opportunity to teach in the Business Technology program.
My favorite courses were Financial Management, Managing Organizations and Leading People, and Ethical Leadership. I received an excellence award in my Marketing class; but, I have to say, that was one of my most challenging and least favorite classes.
“I started my Capstone project at the beginning of March when everything with Covid-19 started. I truly didn’t know if I’d be able to finish by the April 30 deadline. It was a very intense course with a simulation, presentation, multiple papers, and projects. I tried so hard to balance teaching my boys at home, working, going to school, and being a wife and mom. It was dang hard!!! I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family, friends, and coworkers. Many of them gave me encouragement and strength on my tough days.
There were many tears shed during the last couple of months of school, but thankfully I’ve learned throughout my life to dig deep and push forward no matter the odds. The day I finished, my husband and boys were just as excited as I was. I hope my boys have learned the importance of an education and the value of never giving up. So, to my family, friends, and coworkers…THANK YOU!!!”
We are so glad to have you on staff Emily!!!
