Excel Level 3 - Solving Problems - Custom Fit
Prerequiste
Completion of Excel Level 2, or comfortable with its topics — formulas and functions, Tables, and PivotTables.
Class Description
This isn't a features course — it's a decision-making course. You already know how to build and format a worksheet. Level 3 teaches you to use Excel to actually solve problems: test scenarios, work backward from a target, model outcomes, catch your own mistakes, and present your findings in a dashboard someone else can understand at a glance.
What You'll Walk Away With
- Compare "what if" scenarios side by side — use Scenario Manager to model different assumptions without rebuilding your spreadsheet each time
- Work backward from the answer you need — use Goal Seek to find the input that produces a target result, and Data Tables to see how outcomes shift across a whole range of inputs at once
- Solve for the best outcome, not just a possible one — use the Solver Add-In to find optimal answers under real constraints (budgets, capacity, resources)
- Pull scattered data into one clean summary — use Consolidate to combine figures from multiple worksheets or workbooks without manual copy-pastes
- Catch errors before they cost you — use formula auditing and error-checking tools to trace exactly where a broken formula went wrong, instead of guessing
- Build your own custom functions — use LET and LAMBDA to turn a complex mega-formula into a simple, reusable one with a name that makes sense to you
- Turn your analysis into a recommendation — summarize what-if and sensitivity results in a clear format so decision-makers see the "why," not just the numbers
- Present your findings so people actually use them — build a dashboard that pulls your analysis together into one clean, visual view
You'll Also Get
- Links to the class workbook, exercise files, and quizzes, so you can practice and review everything at your own pace after class
- A free 30-minute one-on-one Zoom session with your instructor — included with every TechMentors Excel class, so you've got backup when you hit a real snag
Books & Supplies: Any required books, software, or materials will be communicated prior to the start of training.
