Basic Mastercam is designed for machinists with little to no CAD/CAM experience. The class begins with foundational concepts and progresses through everything needed to become a functional basic programmer by the end of the course.

Workspace Setup

• File importing and saving
• Stock setup and tool library selection
• Machine selection

Geometry Creation

• All 2D geometry creation functions
• Drawing in both X–Y and D–Z planes
• All transform functions
• All wireframe trimming functions
• Colors and geometry styles
• Mastercam hotkeys and quick masks

Toolpath Creation

• All 2D mill and lathe toolpath applications
• Wireframe and solid chaining options
• Tool selection and definition
• Basic speeds and feeds
• General mill and lathe programming basics
• Posting toolpaths
• Brief introduction to G and M code

Class content may be adjusted based on student needs. If there are specific machines or toolpaths that need to be covered, they will be incorporated when possible.

Required materials vary depending on the course content and the level of customization. Any books, software, equipment, or supplies associated with this class will be communicated directly to participating businesses prior to the training start date.
