Completion of Power BI Introduction, or comparable experience building basic Power BI reports and data models.

Class Description

You can already get data into Power BI and build a report — but a good report doesn't just display numbers, it tells a story, holds up under real use, and lets your audience explore the data themselves instead of just looking at it. This course takes your reports to the next level: building a data model that scales, choosing the right visualization for what you're actually trying to say, adding interactivity your audience can click through, and using DAX to create the calculations a basic report can't.

What You'll Walk Away With

• Build a data model that scales, not just works for now — structure your model with a star schema, date tables, and hierarchies so it stays fast and reliable as your data grows
• Choose the right visual, not just a familiar one — understand which visualization actually communicates your point, including matrix, gauge, KPI, and combination charts, plus techniques like small multiples to compare categories side by side
• Turn a plain report into something polished — enhance visualizations with text boxes, shapes, images, and consistent themes so your reports look intentional, not default
• Take interactivity further with buttons and bookmarks — you already know slicers and drill-downs from Level 1; now build guided, clickable navigation into your reports with buttons and bookmarks, so your audience can move through a story you've designed, not just filter a static page
• Answer questions a basic report can't — write DAX calculations and measures using functions, operators, and variables to go beyond simple sums and counts
