3D Apparel Design

3D Apparel Design 1

Students will learn the basics of navigating and creating in CLO, a cutting-edge 3D fashion design software. Students will work in both 2D and 3D environments while using digital sewing tools and pattern creation features to draft and create a bomber jacket.

This course helps students expand their design capabilities, produce faster and more accurate apparel renderings, and gain skills that are actively sought by industry leaders. Space is limited.

Objectives
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate CLO design software
  • Practice navigation, digital sewing, and pattern editing tools
  • Modify and create bomber jacket patterns

3D Apparel Design 2

This course builds upon the skills gained in 3D Apparel Design 1. Students will continue working in CLO to add construction details and notions, utilize presentation tools, and create a complete look including a bomber jacket, pants, and top.

Students will further expand their design capabilities, improve efficiency in apparel rendering, and continue developing industry-relevant skills. Space is limited.

  • Demonstrate continued proficiency in CLO design software
  • Practice construction details, notions, and presentation tools
  • Create a complete outfit with functioning patterns and 3D apparel renderings

3D Apparel Design 3

This advanced course extends skills gained in 3D Apparel Design 1 and 2. Students will apply their knowledge to independently design and create three apparel items of their choosing using CLO.

Students will continue refining their design workflow, producing high-quality 3D renderings, and developing advanced skills valued by the fashion industry. Space is limited.

Objectives
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in CLO design software
  • Create and modify functioning patterns and 3D apparel renderings

A minimum of 5 students must register for the class to run.

Instructor: Maren Lyman

Maren Lyman is an award-winning costume designer and artisan with a BFA in Costume Design from Utah State University and an MFA in Costume Design from San Diego State University.

Her professional experience includes work in costume shops such as BYU, The La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre, Lamb’s Players, and PCPA Theatrefest. Locally, she has designed for Lyric Rep, USU Theatre, Music Theater West, and numerous schools and dance companies.

Maren’s favorite designs include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Guys and Dolls, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Big River, and Shear Madness. She enjoys costume history, sewing, dancing, and Disneyland, and is excited to be part of the BTECH family.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Individuals are responsible for canceling their registration should they not be able to attend. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance. Cancellations received before the first day of class will receive a 100% refund. No refunds will be given on or after the first day of class. (Policy 900.920)
