Description
Advanced Sewing 1
This course will provide an extension of sewing skills gained in Beginning Sewing 1-3, by focusing on clothing construction, fit, and design considerations. Students will grow while working with industrial machines and learning the importance of accurate measurements. The focus will be aimed toward, but not limited to, outdoor gear style. Students will be required to provide the fabric and supplies for all class sewing projects. Do not purchase fabrics before the first day of class.
Objectives:
- Demonstrate how to use an industrial single-needle machine and industrial serger.
- Learn how to take appropriate measurements and select a pattern size to fit.
- Apply correct sewing construction techniques at the intermediate level to complete one functional garment.
Advanced Sewing 2
This course will provide an extension of sewing skills gained in Advanced Sewing 1, by focusing on clothing construction, fit, and design considerations. Students will be learning basic pattern alterations for fit and then will apply what they’ve learned the alter and sew a pair of pants customized to their needs. The focus will be aimed toward but not limited to, outdoor gear style. Students will be required to provide the fabric and supplies for all class sewing projects. Do not purchase fabrics before the first day of class.
Objectives:
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to produce basic pattern alterations for an accurate fit.
- Apply correct sewing construction techniques at the intermediate level to complete one functional garment.
Advanced Sewing 3
This course will provide an extension of sewing skills gained in Advanced Sewing 1 and 2, by focusing on clothing construction, fit, and design considerations. Students will apply all of the advanced skills they have learned as they make a fully-lined garment. The focus will be aimed toward but not limited to, outdoor gear style. Students will be required to provide the fabric and supplies for all class sewing projects. Do not purchase fabrics before the first day of class.
Objectives:
- Demonstrate advanced sewing skills through finishing techniques.
- Understand the importance of lining and how to use it in a project.
- Apply correct sewing construction techniques at the intermediate level to complete one functional garment.
Refund Policy
Individuals are responsible for canceling their registration should they not be able to attend. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance. Cancellations received before the first day of class will receive a 100% refund. No refunds, in whole or in part, will be given on or after the first day of class.
