Join Stokes Nature Center for a 5-week course where students will learn how to observe and communicate about the natural world. Each week will have a theme related to outdoor exploration with a lesson related to science communication. Outdoor exploration topics include: preparing for an outdoor trip, making natural observations, plant and animal identification. Science communication topics include: Tailoring your message to an audience, identifying the theme and tone of your story. Students will leave class with a deeper understanding of the natural world and a better ability to communicate complex topics. 

Refund Policy

Individuals are responsible for canceling their registration should they not be able to attend. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance. Cancellations received before the first day of class will receive a 100% refund. No refunds, in whole or in part, will be given on or after the first day of class.

Instructor

Kate Hunter—is the Director of Education at Stokes Nature Center and a PhD candidate at Utah State University. She is extremely passionate about the outdoors and education and loves bringing others into the art of understanding and explaining how our Cache Valley came to be. Her areas of particular interest are: bees (she's studied over 20 species of bees over the last 8 years in her PhD work), geology, nature journaling, local foraging, among much more!
