Introduction to Data Technology (Pre-Admission)
Data Technology Foundations
This two-week course introduces students to the role of data analysts and how they work with data. Instruction focuses on cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing real-world data using Excel or Google Spreadsheets.
The course begins with a computer literacy assessment to ensure readiness, followed by an orientation and hands-on instrution. Students complete an independent data analysis project throughout the course and present their findings at the end of the class.
Students also explore educational pathways and career opportunities in data analytics.
Admission to the Data Technology Program
Students may qualify for admission to the Data Technology program in one of two ways:
- Complete the Data Technology Foundations course with 80% (B-) or higher OR
- Waiver of the Foundations course by demonstrating one of the following:
- Related associate’s degree or higher from a nationally or regionally accredited institution (as approved by the Department Head) or
- Related industry experience (as approved by the Department Head)

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Individuals are responsible for canceling their registration should they not be able to attend. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance. Cancellations received before the first day of class will receive a 100% refund. No refunds will be given on or after the first day of class.

After logging in, follow these steps to register for Continuing Education courses in the MYBTECH portal:
- Log in to the MyBTECH portal.
- Click the Continuing Education tab.
- Select Register for CE.
- Choose Add/Drop Courses.
- Change TERM to Continuing Education.
- Enter the registration code listed with the class dates to find your course.
- Select Add and complete payment.

Orientation: *Students must attend a course orientation from 6 - 8 pm on the first day of the course, then attend on Monday, Wednesday, and the next Monday. The first Monday is orientation and light lecture, Wednesday is a lecture, and Monday is a presentation wrapping up the course. Students have online work as well.
