Description

In this class, you'll explore some methodologies and techniques of common cyber scams, comprising online and telephone frauds such as tech support scams, pig butchering, and advance fee scams. We'll examine and discuss the tactics and psychological tricks scammers employ to deceive their victims, helping you recognize and avoid these threats. This class is intended for those who are not already familiar with these scams and want to improve their digital security awareness and protect themselves from online fraudsters.

Individuals are responsible for canceling their registration should they not be able to attend. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance. Cancellations received before the first day of class will receive a 100% refund. No refunds, in whole or in part, will be given on or after the first day of class.

Instructor

Owen LaReaux is the Database Specialist at our Bridgerland Technical College. He holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Utah with an emphasis on Probability and Statistics. He has trained his machine-learning models using various clustering algorithms and principal component analysis.
