Description

Our lives increasingly depend upon online tools and accounts to store our information. People
of all ages now have so many digital accounts, files, photos, health information, and other
assets accessed primarily online that we can’t keep track of it all! What will happen to all your
digital assets when you die? Who will have the legal right to manage those assets then, or if
you become disabled and can no longer manage them yourself? A digital estate plan can be a
tremendous help to you and your family in such situations. In this 90-minute course, you will
learn what a digital estate plan is, why it is important, and how you can take steps to prepare
yours. Take time now to learn how to create your digital estate plan. It can give you peace of
mind and prevent problems for those who may need to manage your online property someday.

Instructor

Michelle Dillon is the owner of Cache Valley Projects LLC, which helps individuals and small businesses organize their digital information and prepare plans for their personal digital legacy or business succession planning. After her studies in education, psychology, and law, Michelle clerked for four judges at a state Court of Appeals, tackling complex legal research and recommending case outcomes. She then served as Legal Director for a Seattle nonprofit where she taught and supervised volunteers helping people navigate issues of estate planning, health insurance, disability benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, consumer law, and other challenging topics. Later she joined the federal government, managing a four-state regional office team that resolved complex Medicare issues. She also used her project management and organizational skills to manage the operations and security of a federal information system.
