Why Sesquicentennial is More Than a Sixteen Letter Word
Why Sesquicentennial is More Than a Sixteen Letter Word
What does it mean for you and the United States to celebrate 250 years of existence?
This class will feature a discussion of four historical documents that shape American history through time. They include the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, Lincoln's Second Inaugural and the Gettysburg Address, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Four Freedoms.
The fifth document will be the student's creation based on the Pledge of Allegiance, the Oath of Office, and the other four documents. We will also discuss other writings that might be included. Students will be encouraged to leave a legacy of written treasures.
