Stokes Nature Center: Outdoor Exploration & Science Communication
Join Stokes Nature Center for a 5-week course where students will learn how to observe and communicate
about the natural world. Each week focuses on a theme related to outdoor exploration paired with
a lesson in science communication.
Outdoor exploration topics include:
- Preparing for an outdoor trip
- Making natural observations
- Plant and animal identification
Science communication topics include:
- Tailoring your message to an audience
- Identifying the theme and tone of your story
Students will leave class with a deeper understanding of the natural world and a stronger ability to communicate complex topics clearly and effectively.
Course Instructor
Director of Education at Stokes Nature Center and a PhD candidate at Utah State University. She is passionate about outdoor education and helping others understand how Cache Valley came to be.
Her interests include bees (with over eight years of PhD research across 20+ species), geology, nature journaling, and local foraging.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Individuals are responsible for canceling their registration should they not be able to attend. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance. Cancellations received before the first day of class will receive a 100% refund. No refunds will be given on or after the first day of class.
