Vaccinations / Immunizations
The Utah Department of Health & Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that all students consider getting the following vaccinations:
MMR, HPV, Meningococcal, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Varicella (or Zoster), and/or Polio. Please consult your personal physician to make an informed decision.
Vaccinations are only required before enrollment for students enrolled in programs that require proof of vaccination before entering clinical settings.
The terms "vaccination" and "immunization" are often used interchangeably.
- Vaccination is the term used for getting a vaccine, or in other words, actually getting the injection or taking an oral dose of the vaccine.
- Immunization is the process by which a person is made immune or resistant to an infectious disease. Immunization refers to the actual changes the body undergoes after receiving a vaccine.
When it comes to vaccinations and immunizations, the terms are synonymous, and either term may be used in reference to the requirements of this disclosure.
Specific vaccination/immunization requirements are provided online through the college’s programmatic web pages. Detailed requirements can be found in the ‘Additional Requirements’ tab for each program requiring vaccinations.
