Bridgerland Technical College
Vaccinations / Immunizations
The State of Utah Department of Health & Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that all students consider getting the following vaccinations: MMR, HPV, Meningococcal, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Varicella or Zoster, and/or Polio. Please consult your personal physician to make an informed decision.
Vaccinations are only required prior to enrollment for students enrolled in programs that require proof of vaccination prior to entrance into clinical settings.
The terms vaccination and immunization are used interchangeably.
- Vaccination is the term used for getting a vaccine – or in other words, actually getting the injection or taking an oral dose of the vaccine.
- Immunization is the process by which a person is made immune or resistant to an infectious disease. Immunization describes the actual changes the body goes through after receiving a vaccine.
When it comes to vaccinations and immunizations, the terms are synonymous, and either term may be used in reference to the requirements of this disclosure.
Specific vaccination/immunization requirements are provided online through the college’s programmatic web pages. Detailed requirements can be found in the ‘Additional Requirements’ tab for each program requiring vaccinations: Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Dental Assisting, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assistant, Paramedic, Pharmacy Technician, and Practical Nursing.
