Description

This 1-day course covers basic and advanced topics for setting up, managing, and operating an effective Peer Support Program within public safety agencies.

Individuals are responsible for canceling their registration should they not be able to attend. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance. Cancellations received before the first day of class will receive a 100% refund. No refunds, in whole or in part, will be given on or after the first day of class.

Instructor

 

Jeffrey Denning retired from the Salt Lake City Police Department, where, among other things, he worked as a CIT detective, hostage negotiator, and peer support supervisor.

Jeff has experience as a SWAT operator, FTO, and firearms instructor and has worked undercover operations. He has served on the executive board of the Utah CISM Team for several years and has helped dozens of agencies with debriefings following critical incidents.

He is a veteran of the war in Iraq and at one time held Top Secret clearances with three government agencies.

As a specialist in crisis response and peer support, he has developed classes and taught hundreds of law enforcement officers, dispatchers, firefighters/EMS, chaplains, and mental health professionals throughout Utah, Nevada, and Idaho. 

Jeff’s second master’s degree is in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He is trained in EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and other trauma modalities.
