De-Escalation Training
Description
A New Kind of De-Escalation Training - Emotional Intelligence for the Law Enforcement Officer
This is not a typical de-escalation training program. This course teaches law enforcement officers the skills necessary to de-escalate volatile situations, improve public satisfaction, manage the stress of a law enforcement career, and help improve leadership skills.
We combined years of academic research on emotional intelligence with the skills developed as a police negotiator to create this one-of-a-kind training program.
Emotional intelligence is defined as the ability to manage your own emotions and the emotions of others, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges, and defuse conflict.
What does emotional intelligence have to do with being a cop?
Cops are constantly tasked with managing other people’s emotions, particularly those emotions at the far end of the spectrum. Understanding emotional intelligence is the key to effecting positive change in your career, with the public and improving your de-escalation skills.
Who should attend?
This training is geared toward all officers and supervisors of federal, state, and local police agencies. Officers will receive continuing education credits upon completion of training.
Instructor: Lyons Hale, Co-Founder Juliet Lima Solutions.
