Control Systems and Robotics
The Control Systems and Robotics program prepares qualified students for advanced work as Control System Technicians in an automated manufacturing environment. This certificate provides hands-on training in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), industrial robots, industrial networking, servo system programming, vision systems, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming. Students work with teaching staff of industry professionals who emphasize hands-on instruction and provide competency-based training based on industry input for best practices and technological relevance. There is a high demand for employees with these specialized skills.
Objectives
- Build an operational industrial network containing computers and control devices.
- Program a process using a common PLC.
- Design and program an HMI screen to interface with a PLC and control a process.
- Program a servo-driven process with a PLC.
- Identify, locate, communicate with other devices, and inspect two different parts using machine vision.
- Build a project that integrates multiple control topics.

Admissions
Complete the Certificate-Seeking Application. College admission policy requires a student to have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent.

Programmatic Requirements
Students will receive additional pre-enrollment programmatic requirements, if applicable, via email. If you have not received this email within 24 business hours, please check your spam or junk mail folders.
Prerequisites: Automation Technology and/or Electronics Technology certificate, related associate's degree or higher (from a nationally or regionally accredited institution as approved by the Department Head), or related industry experience (as approved by the Department Head).

Enrollment and Registration
Once the programmatic requirements have been completed, the next step is to meet with a Student Services Representative to complete your enrollment. You will declare your starting date, enrolled hours, and set up your payment schedule.
The first month’s payment or completed Financial Aid is required at the time of enrollment. No appointment is necessary.

Checklist
- Social Security Number or Alien Registration number (if you’re not a U.S. citizen)
- Federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
The Process
- BTECH receives your FAFSA record.
- Financial Aid emails you instructions to create a VerifyMyFafsa account.
- You submit the required documentation.
- You complete enrollment with BTECH.
- Financial Aid emails a link to schedule a required Financial Aid Offer meeting.
- Pell Grant is disbursed (if eligible).
Scholarships

- High school transcript
The Process
- Soft deadline: the 5th of each month.
- BTECH gathers applications submitted during the previous month.
- The Scholarship Committee reviews each application.
- BTECH evaluates available funds.
- Award results are typically sent within 4–6 weeks.
- If awarded, you receive a link to schedule a meeting to accept the award.
- BTECH disburses scholarship funds.
