Estheticians provide specialized skin care services, mainly focusing on the face, improving appearance with non-surgical techniques.
Students will complete a 1200 hour training program to be eligible for licensing as a Master Esthetician, Students who have a current cosmetology license may complete the 600 hour master esthetics program to be eligible for licensing as a Master Esthetician.
Esthetics students will become proficient in basic and machine facials, chemical peels, hot stone and microdermabrasion treatments. Training also includes Hair removal procedures using sugar, soft wax, hard wax and tweezing and spa manicures and pedicures.

Please note: A composite ACT score of 17 or a composite SAT score of 1210 can waive assessment requirements if taken no more than four years prior to enrollment.
Students must be 18 years of age or older prior to enrollment.
Individuals seeking the Esthetics Instructor certificate must have both a Master Esthetics license and departmental approval prior to enrollment.
Cosmetology Application Procedure for Instructor Training Certificates:
Candidates interested in the Cosmetology Instructor certificates will be considered for entry after completion/graduation from Cosmetology, Esthetics or Nail technician, after six months verified employment in a salon/spa and after the submission of a resume that includes three letters of recommendation: one employer recommend, one academic recommend from their Cosmetology or Esthetics or Nail technician instructor, and one character recommendation.
Candidate must also submit a copy of their current Cosmetology, Esthetics or Nail Technician license – current license must represent the instructor training that candidate is interested in for enrollment. After all items have been submitted, the candidate will be scheduled for a committee interview. The committee will be comprised of not less than three department instructors and two other individuals from either the private sector or from other departments at Bridgerland Technical College. Candidates who score 90 percent or better will be given a start date. Candidates who start the instructor training certificate(s) will sign an agreement contract that will specify expectations.
As skin care becomes more scientific and results become more dramatic, consumers will consider esthetician services a necessity rather than a luxury. As a licensed esthetician, you may choose from a wide range of careers: salon or day spa esthetician, medical esthetics, makeup artist, sales person or manager, cosmetics buyer, esthetics writer, educator, state licensing inspector/examiner, or researcher. You will be a part of an exciting, rewarding, and well-respected profession that will grow in importance and earning power in the years ahead.
Bridgerland Technical College is open year round. Most programs are open-entry, which means you can start the program at the first of every month as long as there is space available in the program. Because of demand, some programs have waiting lists to get in to the program. Please contact Student Services for information on those programs with waiting lists and defined starting dates.
Bridgerland Technical College participates in a variety of assistance programs that aid students in covering the costs associated with enrollment in full-time certificate programs. The Financial Aid Office provides information for grants, scholarships, and VA education benefits. Bridgerland Technical College does not participate in or endorse any loan program. Most certificates take about one year to complete. Each individual certificate page has tuition and fee amounts listed. Students can be setup on a payment plan and make payments each month (due on the 1st).
