Master Esthetician
Intro
The Master Esthetician program prepares students to enter the world of skincare, and natural nail care by teaching the required skills for success in one of the fastest-growing fields in the beauty industry. Students develop communication skills, professional behavior, and the core skills of working in or building a spa business. Students work with spa guests in a modern, well-equipped spa with the newest techniques, products, and equipment in the industry. This program offers education in facials, manicures, pedicures, skin care massage, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, ultrasonic facials, LED light facials, microcurrent facials, advanced hair removal, advanced makeup, and body treatments. Students build upon skills and develop more specific training in advanced facial techniques and laser treatments. At the end
of the program, students are qualified to take the Utah State Master Esthetician Licensing Exams.
Objectives
- Demonstrate basic and master esthetic skills such as communication skills, professional behavior, facials, manicures, pedicures, advanced facial techniques, skin care massage, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, ultrasonic facials, LED light facials, microcurrent facials, advanced hair removal, advanced makeup, body treatments, and advanced laser treatments.
- Explain general sciences related to Esthetics such as anatomy, infection control, skin structure, skin diseases and disorders, chemistry, and electricity.
- Demonstrate spa processes and etiquette with proper sanitation procedures necessary for the health and safety of spa guests and self.
- Perform esthetic services on manikins and spa guests.
- Communicate effectively with spa guests and colleagues.
- Demonstrate communication skills through electronic, verbal, and written formats.
- Prepare for the state board licensure exam.

Programmatic Requirements
Students will receive additional pre-enrollment programmatic requirements, if applicable, via email. If you have not received this email within 24 business hours, please check your spam or junk mail folders.
WorkKeys Assessment: Workplace Documents (Level 5), Graphic Literacy (Level 4), and Applied Math (Level 4).
Please note: A composite ACT score of 17 or a composite SAT score of 930 can waive assessment requirements (except keyboarding) if taken no more than four years prior to enrollment. If you attended BTECH as a high school student, you may be able to waive the Entrance Assessment with your grades. Contact a Student Success Advisor for more information.

Enrollment/Registration
Once you have received an acceptance letter, the next step is to meet with a Student Services Representative to complete your enrollment. You will declare your starting date, enrolled hours, and set up your payment schedule.
The first month's payment or completed Financial Aid is required at the time of enrollment. No appointment is necessary. If you have any questions, Student Services can be reached at 435-753-6780 or studentservices@btech.edu or you can visit us in person at the Logan Campus!

The Process
Apply for FAFSA at FAFSA.gov and BTECH school code: 014257.
BTECH receives student FAFSA records.
Financial Aid will send an email to students to create a VerifyMyFafsa Account.
The student creates an account and submits the required documentation.
Students will complete enrollment with BTECH.
Financial Aid will email the student a link to schedule a required Financial Aid Offer meeting.
Pell Grant is disbursed.

The Process
Apply for scholarships at https://btech.edu/scholarships (soft deadline (5th of each month).
BTECH emails a link to schedule a Scholarship Interview.
Interview with the Scholarship Committee (generally 3rd Tuesday of each month).
BTECH evaluates the interview rubric and available funds.
Notified of award results within 4 weeks.
The student will receive a link to schedule a meeting to accept the award.
BTECH disburses scholarships.

Licensing
The following are the requirements for obtaining a Master Esthetician License in the State of Utah:
Complete the 1200-hour course, pass school exams, and practical skills requirements at 90% or higher.
Obtain the "Verification of Hours" required by the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing stamped by Bridgerland Technical College, signifying successful completion of courses and passing the final tests with at least a 90% on the theory portion and a 90% on the practical portion.
Score a minimum of 70% on the State Board Exams issued by Prov, Inc.
