Plumbing Apprenticeship
Introduction
The Plumbing Apprenticeship program satisfies the educational requirements to take the State Journeyman Plumber Exam. To complete the entire Apprentice Plumbing Program, an individual must be licensed through the State and work under the supervision of a licensed Journeyman Plumber. A basic assessment is required prior to enrolling. This program provides a solid understanding of the lntemational Plumbing Code (IPq, its layout, and the requirements for different plumbing systems and parts of those systems. This program discusses he processes, parts, and risks involved with the various plumbing systems as well as the safety equipment and measures that are in place to protect plumbers and the public alike.
Objectives
- Determine the application of the International Plumbing Code (IPC).
- Demonstrate how to navigate the International Plumbing Code (IPC).
- Calculate sizing of various piping, including natural gas, supply, and waste lines.
- Demonstrate the applicati'on of the International Fuel Gas Code.
- Demonstrate the applicati'on of the International Mechanical Code.
- Demonstrate practical application of plumbing mathematics.
- Apply critical and practical thinking skills necessary to pass the State Journeyman's Test.

Admission to the College
Complete the Certificate-Seeking Application. College admission policy requires a student to have a high school diploma or a recognized equivalent.

Programmatic Requirements
Students will receive additional pre-enrollment programmatic requirements (if applicable) via email. If you do not receive this email within 24 business hours, please check your spam or junk folders.
Effective July 1, 2026: All apprentices must hold an apprenticeship license to enroll. Complete and submit your Plumbing Apprenticeship application.
WorkKeys Assessment: Applied Math (4), Graphic Literacy (4), Workplace Documents (4).
Please note: A composite ACT score of 17 or a composite SAT score of 930 may waive assessment requirements if taken within the past four years.

Enrollment and Registration
Once the programmatic requirements have been completed, the next step is to meet with a Student Services Representative to complete your enrollment. Full course payment or completed financial aid is required at the time of registration.

The Process
- BTECH receives your FAFSA record.
- Financial Aid emails you instructions to create a VerifyMyFafsa account.
- You submit the required documentation.
- You complete enrollment with BTECH.
- Financial Aid emails a link to schedule a required Financial Aid Offer meeting.
- Pell Grant is disbursed (if eligible).

The Process
- Soft deadline: the 5th of each month.
- BTECH gathers applications submitted during the previous month.
- The Scholarship Committee reviews each application.
- BTECH evaluates available funds.
- Award results are typically sent within 4–6 weeks.
- If awarded, you receive a link to schedule a meeting to accept the award.
- BTECH disburses scholarship funds.
