Business

The Business program offers foundational training that will prepare students to excel at a career in any business setting. The program fosters a strong work ethic and independent learning, where students can cultivate knowledge, practice technical skills, and develop professional work habits. Students will have the opportunity to earn industry certifications that verify technical skills and enhance credibility.

Objectives

• Demonstrate computer proficiency by using business software to produce complex documents with speed, efficiency, and accuracy.
• Recognize principles of leadership and management by applying them in relevant business contexts.
• Use basic financial and accounting principles to complete general accounting functions.
• Develop written, verbal, and digital communication skills by preparing clear, concise, and correct messages for a business environment.
• Practice professional skills that are vital for career development and success in the workplace.

   Bridgerland Technical College is open year-round. Most programs are open-entry, which means you can start at the beginning of each month as long as space is available.

   Admissions

   Complete the Certificate-Seeking Application. College admission policy requires a student to have a high school diploma or a recognized equivalent.

   Programmatic Requirements

   Students will receive additional pre-enrollment programmatic requirements (if applicable) via email. If you do not receive this email within 24 business hours, please check your spam or junk folders.

   WorkKeys Assessment: Applied Math (Level 5), Graphic Literacy (Level 5), Workplace Documents (Level 5), and keyboarding (25 net words per minute, no backspace, fewer than 10 errors).

   Online Students: A PC computer (Apple not supported at this time), external webcam, Windows 10, Microsoft Office 2019 or Office 365, printer, and reliable internet access are required. Additional software may be required for elective courses.

   Please note: A composite ACT score of 17 or SAT score of 930 may waive assessment requirements (except keyboarding) if taken within the past four years. Former BTECH high school students may qualify for assessment waivers based on grades. Contact a Student Success Advisor for details.

   Enrollment and Registration

   Once programmatic requirements are completed, meet with a Student Services Representative to finalize enrollment. You will declare your start date, enrolled hours, and set up your payment schedule.

   The first month’s payment or completed Financial Aid is required at enrollment. No appointment is necessary.
