Certificate Description
Construction Technology provides both the opportunity to obtain a Bridgerland Technical College certificate. Highly skilled and trained instructors will guide the students through the hands-on construction of a custom home. Building Technology graduates will engage in safety, site layout, concrete, framing, interior finishing (including custom cabinets) and exterior finishes. This program supports the Bridgerland Technical College mission to deliver competency-based, employer-guided career and hands-on technical education to the Bear River Region.
Objectives
- Graduates will be able to identify and safely use hand tools, power tools, and stationary machines.
- Graduates will have experience with cement placement, including footings, foundation walls, stairs, and other flatwork.
- Graduates will demonstrate how to layout and frame the main floor, how to layout, build, square, and sheet exterior and interior walls.
- Graduates will install drywall, pre-hung interior doors, baseboard molding and/or chair rail, guard and hand railing according to code.
- Graduates will have built and installed a kitchen, bathroom, laundry cabinetry in a home
- Graduates will develop a house plan by way of a drafting table, demonstrating proper use of drafting tools, symbols, specifications, and codes.

Bridgerland Technical College is open year round. Most programs are open-entry, open-exit, which means you can start the program at the first of every month as long as there is space available. Once the Assessment/ACT has been approved, the next step is to meet with a Student Services Representative to complete your enrollment. You will declare your starting date, enrolled hours, and set up your payment schedule. No appointment is necessary.
